About ReelWorks Denver

We are an independent concert venue, a unique events space, and so much more…

Located in the heart of Denver’s vibrant River North (RiNo) Art District, ReelWorks can host events for groups from 150 to 3,500 persons. Converted from a 1940s warehouse that produced film reels during the Golden Age of Hollywood, ReelWorks can accommodate any type of event including concerts, corporate parties, fundraisers, fashion shows, live sports, trade shows, weddings, product launches, block parties, or something we haven’t thought of yet.

The ReelWorks Building

Why are we called ReelWorks?

On the spot ReelWorks now resides, the Lindquist Cracker Company built a three-story, brick factory in the 1890’s. In the 1920’s, that factory was sold to Goldberg Brothers Tinners. At the time, “the factory on Walnut” – as it was referred to informally – was one of several factories owned and operated by Goldberg Brothers, who at the time was the second largest employer in the state of Colorado, behind only the Adolf Coors Brewing and Manufacturing Company. Goldberg Brothers manufactured thousands of different metal items but eventually became best known as the largest manufacturer of movie reels in the world. Not the film itself, but the metal reels on which movies were stored. If you ever saw a movie played on film, it almost certainly was kept safe on a Goldberg Brothers metal reel.

In the 1940’s, the factory on Walnut burned to the ground due to a fire that started in the factory. Less than three years later, Goldberg Brothers rebuilt the factory as the one-story structure you see today that has become ReelWorks Denver. Goldberg continued their manufacturing operations in the building into the 1970’s, and at that time they moved to a different factory but retained ownership until they sold the factory building to the EXDO Group in 1999 who adaptively repurposed the building into the EXDO Event Center (later to be named ReelWorks Denver).

Goldberg Brothers is a historic Denver business icon still located in the metro area, and we are honored to give their former factory life with the hundreds of events that we host every year.
