BIO
Daniel Chien, better known as Wax Motif, continues redefi ning house music’s sound in the United States as the years progress. The Australian-born, Los Angeles-based artist has evolved over the recent years from being a trailblazer in the house scene to one of the most in-demand producers in the music industry. Wax’s ability to blend musical infl uences such as R&B, disco, and U.K. bass into his productions has led to collaborations that bridge the gap between electronic music and hip-hop.
In 2024, Wax Motif reached new heights as the co-producer on Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s globally celebrated VULTURES I & II albums. His work on the dance-infused track ‘BACK TO ME’ featuring Freddie Gibbs, Ty Dolla $ign, and Ye—produced alongside 88-Keys—catapulted the versatile producer into the spotlight, showcasing his ability to craft genre-defying tracks outside of his typical realm of dance music. The first of the album series achieved #1 status in 83 countries within 24 hours, marking a career-defi ning moment for the producer.
This last year, Wax debuted his high-energy Waxtroda project with Croatian producer Matroda, during a sold-out, four-hour set at the iconic Brooklyn Mirage. With a joint music project from the duo on the horizon, fans can anticipate a fresh take on the two producer’s signature blend of house and bass set to release in 2025. The acclaimed DJ also continued to dominate the festival and club circuit- performing at Seismic Dance Event, HARD Summer (where he surprised fans by bringing out collaborator Ty Dolla $ign), The Concourse Project, Club Space, and more. His signature House of Wax events—including a sold-out takeover during Miami Music Week—resolidifying himself as an unparalleled event curator and performer in the dance music scene.
On the release front, Wax’s latest offerings have amassed millions of streams across platforms including ‘212’ with Truth x Lies and AK Renny the infectious ‘SHAKE IT’ with Brazilian producers GREG and DOUG, ‘In My Hands’ with Camden Cox, and ‘Better Recognize’ with GRAMMY-nominated Zhu. With more high-profi le collaborations set for 2025, the tastemaker is poised to expand his already impressive catalog in both electronic and mainstream music in the year to come.
With his productions gaining support from industry heavyweights like Dom Dolla, John Summit, Solomun, Meduza, and Chris Lake, Wax Motif is at the forefront of the evolution of dance music. His ability to navigate between electronic music and hip-hop—having also produced for Gashi, G-Eazy, and the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot—proves that his artistry and talent transcends genres. His previous works, including his 2022 debut album House of Wax, continue to resonate with fans worldwide. The album, which amassed over 33 million streams, highlighted Wax’s versatility in blending dance fl oor anthems with R&B infl uences.
As 2025 begins, Wax Motif continues his legacy as one of the leading producers in pop culture. With exciting, unannounced collaborations, more genre-defying performances, and the highly-anticipated Waxtroda project on the horizon – fans can expect Wax to continue shaping the future of music in the years to come.
